Osteopathy Consultation

By appointment at the practice

Osteopathy is a method of care that can be used to treat mobility restrictions that can come from the differents structures in the human body. Any loss of mobility of the joints, muscles, ligaments or bowls can cause an inbalance in the state of health. Osteopathy prevents and treats many physical problems, but also acts on the nervous, functional and psychological.

The peculiarity of this therapeutic method is based on a global approach of the individual, as well as a solid knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

The osteopathic diagnosis is based on a thorough examination of the patient as well as his medical history in order to:

  •  Determine the indications and contraindications for osteopathic treatment, priority being given to the safety of the patient,

  • Appreciate the patient as a whole,

  • Trace his journey of history of his pain and find the cause.

The patient's daily life is also important. His habitual postures, the impact of his job, the stresses encountered, the ergonomics of his workstation, his usual postures ... are all causes of pain. So the osteopath will provide a tailored therapeutic response to understand, treat and help the  problems he may encounter.

Procedure of the session

The session begins with an interrogation: reasons for consultations, medical history, surgical, treatment in progress etc ... associated with a thorough examination of the radiological and biological assessments of the patient if they exist.

The osteopath determines the indications and contraindications of his therapy, but also if he must involve other therapists in the search for the cause and in the treatment of the reason (s) of consultations.

Then he starts by observing the body and its movements. Then by specific palpatory tests (flexibility, elasticity and tissue tension, listening to the micro mobility of different areas of the body).

The practitioner, taking into account the particular problems of the patient, his knowledge of anatomy and physiology, will determine the movement restrictions that can affect all the structures making up the human body.

Any loss of restriction (joints, muscles, ligaments, bowel ) can cause an imbalance of health.

The practitioner chooses the best adapted and most comfortable technique for the patient, according to his age, his morphology, the incriminated tissue and the area (s) of the body that need to be helped, to react and to be oriented towards finding a balance of health.

Throughout and until the end of the treatment, he ensures the quality change of the restricted areas of mobility treated.

Then, before raising the patient and letting go, he controls the harmony of the body under the influence of the pelvic and plantar support and gravity.

And ends the consultations with advise, exercises to perform at home such as stretching, and advise further consultations.

The osteopath by improving the quality of the tissues and the mobility of the different parts of the human body will help the body to self-balance.

"The duty of the practitioner is not to heal the patient but to adjust some or all of the system so that the rivers of life can flow and irrigate the dry fields."
